Har Ki Doon Trek One of the most gorgeous among Uttarakhand’s trekking destinations, Har Ki Doon in the Garhwal Himalayas at. is a hanging valley famed for exquisite beauty. The trek route offers a variety of interesting features—forests rich in flora and fauna, a series of quaint villages on the cliffs, the delightful experience of camping by a sprightly mountain river, and vista of snow peaks. The trail is age old and steeped in legends. Some say, it is the same route taken by the Pandavas in the Mahabharata on their ascent to heaven. Swargarohini—the snow peak, the vision of which dominates this trek bears legacy of the mythical stairway to heaven. Among other relics of an interesting past, the Duryodhana Temple in village Osla on this trail deserves a mention.

Har Ki Doon Trek  is a favorite in summers and post-monsoon owing to the vibrant greens patched with orchids, rhododendrons, and other blossoms. The trail in most parts running through a deep forest cover, keeps away risks of altitude adaptation marking the trek safe for beginners and young trekkers. On an average, the trek will have 5 hours of hiking per day but thanks to thorough connection with localities, the route is full of simple facilities like little refreshing eateries on the way.

The challenge of Har Ki Doon, besides the long hours of trek for 6 long days is trekking in the rains. The peak time of the year for this trek is not winter after snowfall but in summer frequented by rain. Proceeding through green foliages dripping with pearls of rain is a beautiful experience but trekkers must be well equipped for it. Rain trekking essential like poncho, waterproof covers, anti-diarrhea medicines, and water resistant trekking boots has to be ticked boxed first when packing for this journey.

There are three booking variant options:
1. Pantwari to Pantwari (2,099+5% GST)
2. Dehradun to Dehradun (2,599+5% GST)
3. Delhi to Delhi (4,199+5% GST)

About the Nag Tibba Trek:
The Nag Tibba trek is a must for all trek-lovers, especially those planning a visit to Dehradun and Mussoorie. At 9,910 ft, the Serpent Peak is the highest peak in the Nag Tibba range of the Garhwal Himalayas and has a lot of things to offer to its visitors. It is one of the most exciting places near Mussoorie, only a 3-hour drive away! The Nag Tibba Trek is considered to be one of the best treks in Uttarakhand, especially for beginners! The famous Mussoorie weather is replicated in Nag Tibba as well, and can be found to be agreeable throughout the year!

The high altitude of the trek ensures that the weather remains pleasant throughout the year. The temperature varies from 6 degrees during the nights in December, to 25 degrees, during the days in the summers. If you decide to undertake the Nag Tibba Trek during peak winters, you will start coming across patches of snow just ahead of the base camp. However, you will hit the real deal on the second day, as you get nearer to the Tibba Top. Make sure to make full use of your trekking poles and snow gaiters on this day! The Nag Tibba trek challenges the myth that the harder and longer the trek, the better the view and the more memorable the experience. The view of Spiti on one side and the Bandarpoonch on the other are enough to make you believe that heaven really does exist!

There are two possible routes which can be taken to trek to Nag Tibba. One is via Auntar village, and the other via Patwari Village. Both the routes meet at Nag Mandir and converge along the way. This trekking experience takes you along the Patwari village. This path starts with a gentle incline, getting steeper in parts and takes you to the quaint little Goat Village. This charming hamlet makes for an ideal pit stop, and you can fill your water bottles here, before continuing on your ascent. The ancient temple presents breathtaking vistas of green meadows and deep valleys.

Along with the stunning vistas of the Garhwal, there is also a wide range of flora found in the region. Amongst the mighty Deodars, there are the beautiful wildflowers which add colour to the scene. The total distance covered during the adventure trek is 25 km, which is reasonable for a first-time trekker and since it is a short trek, that makes it ideal for beginners. However, the altitude covered during the second day of this guided trek is relatively higher and can get steep in parts. Therefore, the Kareri Lake trek is an easy trek to undertake, with the trek gradient reaching a moderate level of difficulty in certain parts. To make the most of this trekking experience, the route taken to hike up to Nag Tibba top from the base camp is different from the path taken to descend. Thus, you will have the opportunity of taking in new vistas while covering the same distance! In your upcoming holidays, make sure to undertake the Nag Tibba Trek – one of the best experiences of trekking in India.

You will be staying in a tent overnight at the base camp set up at Nag Tibba. If you are looking to use your upcoming vacations or the next weekend to its fullest and get away from the hustle-bustle of your daily lives, this trek to Nag Tibba is the answer you were searching for. Adventure trekking in the Himalayas is sure to take you a long way to happiness!

Meet us in Dehradun for the adventure trek near Mussoorie! Dehradun, located at an altitude of 447 m, is a growing hotspot for tourist activity and is well connected to all nearby major cities like Delhi. You can reach Dehradun from Delhi by car, by air or by train. From Delhi, you can directly take a flight to the Jolly Grant Airport to reach Dehradun. You can also take a direct overnight train or bus to cover Delhi to Dehradun distance. Travelling by road is also a tempting option, as Dehradun is located a pleasant 6-hour-long drive away from Delhi. Considering the fact that the meandering, scenic roads by themselves present a picturesque start to the adventurous Nag Tibba Trek, the distance from Delhi to Nag Tibba is easily traversed within a 9-hour drive.

Beginners looking for a winter trek in North India have limited options as the Himalayas in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh provide for the best of such opportunities, but a lot of the treks remain closed during the winters. Not the Nag Tibba Trek though! The best time to undertake the trek to Nag Tibba is in the summer season, from April to June, or the winter season, from October to December. It would be best to avoid undertaking the trek during the monsoon season, especially without an expert guide, as the rainfall can dampen your experience and makes the path slippery and dangerous. Make sure to get lots of pictures clicked with your co-travellers, as you will end up forming a memorable bond with them over the trek!

Special tips for beginners:

  • If you are a first-timer, it is always better to plan ahead and start exercising at least two weeks in advance to prepare for the trek. Since you will climb to the Nag Tibba top, which boasts of an elevation of 3022 m, doing yoga to strengthen your lungs is also a viable option! It would be best if you could ensure that you follow a healthy diet chart for the duration of your training period and take in all your meals regularly.

  • The Nag Tibba Trek in Uttarakhand makes for an ideal weekend trek from Delhi, especially taking into account the fact that it is only two days – one-night long adventure.

  • The Nag Tibba Trek makes for an ideal winter trek, the elevation at the top ensuring just the right amount of snow to make it exciting and conducive to trekking! This trek can be undertaken throughout the winter season when most other Himalayan treks are closed.

  • Try to ensure that you get the chance to bask in the glory of the Himalayan sunset and sunrise. They will set your mind at peace and your soul singing!

  • While planning for a trek in snow, it’s best to think ahead and prepare an extra pair of clothing. Do make sure that your clothes are adequate for the snow and that you are carrying enough track pants, and woollens.

  • The Nag Tibba trek is especially great for first-time trekkers since it answers the one question running through the mind of all beginners – what are the emergency provisions like? Patwari village, only a one-hour trek away from Nag Mandir, is adequately equipped to deal with all kinds of basic medical facilities to address problems while trekking.

  • Make sure that your trekking bag has rain-cover if you don’t want all your belongings to get soaked as you trek through snow or in rain.

  • While the chances of getting Acute Mountain Sickness during the Nag Tibba trek are comparatively lower due to the elevation level, make sure to get acclimatized – especially during the trek from Nag Tibba base camp to the Tibba Top – by taking adequate breaks along the way! Also, during the trek, it is of the essence to ensure that you are eating enough nutritious food to prevent the onset of the sickness.

  • If you’re a solo traveller, looking for a backpacking adventure, the Nag Tibba trek is perfect for you! The engaging weekend getaway will give you peace of mind, away from the noise of the city and our support staff will ensure your safety.
